The Catfish opened the final homestand of the first half ... and a can of whoop-ass ... tonight as they beat the Rome Braves 18-5. Every starter had a hit and scored a run, and almost every base hit counted, as only two runners were left on base.
The Catfish bats came alive, notching 20 hits, a season high. The 18 runs were also a season high. And the 8 home runs were a league record. And Travis Denker's three home runs tied a Columbus all-time record.
Tomorrow, game two of the four-game series, then an off-day as the first half officially ends.
Not all the news tonight was good news. One of the players the wife and I "sponsor," 1B/OF Dan Batz, who didn't play tonight, got news of a family member with a serious illness. He's planning on traveling home within a few days. Please keep him and his family in your prayers.
Congrats on a great game and a well deserved win, y'all!
ReplyDeleteDan Batz and his kin will certainly be in my prayers, as well.
Thanks.
