Music Meme… sort of…

I wasn't tagged, but I thought I would share my favorites.

The last CD I bought was License to Chill, by Jimmy Buffett.

Jimmy Buffett was the third best concert I have ever been to. (At first I thought it was second best, but I have changed my mind.) He sang "Five O'Clock Somewhere" (which is one of my favorites) and I expected Alan J. to sing along on film, but he didn't... sigh. No matter... it was a great concert. Jimmy's songs remind me of college days and present days, and THE BEACH!!!!! I love "Margaritaville" (college) and "Trip Around the Sun" (these days) which is my favorite song on the CD. But Jimmy didn't sing it at his concert... sigh.

However, Martina McBride did sing "Trip Around the Sun" at her concert, and Jimmy sang with her (in a film.) Martina headlined with Alan Jackson, and that is probably the fifth best concert I have ever been to. I went with my sister and her family, so that made the concert-going even more memorable and enjoyable. Alan sang "Five O'Clock Somewhere" with Jimmy helping on film. My favorite songs of Alan's are "A Work in Progress" and "That'd Be Alright". There are more, but those are the two with the happiest memories.

Fourth best concert was John Denver. I saw him a very long time ago at a concert in the round, and I was close to the front. The music enveloped me. I feel the wind, the water, and the grandeur of nature when I listen to his music.

Basil or Paul?Second best concert I ever attended was Paul McCartney. I had this as my third most favorite originally because there were lots of distractions...strange dancers and such...and I had Jimmy B. listed second, because that was an AWESOME concert. However, after a bit of reflection, I decided that seeing this living legend in Philips Arena (where there are no bad seats and the sound is amazing) was indeed the second best concert of all. I went to see McCartney with basil....such marvelous music...what a legend... AND I got to be with my brother, Such a memory! I was in pure heaven listening to Paul... He sang Beatles songs that just made me cry tears of joy...I wish I had been able to see the Beatles back in the 60's. I'm SO glad I was able to go to that concert. Thanks for going with me, basil.

The best concert ever was The Eagles ... the farewell concert they are doing now. (I didn't see them in my college days.) I caught a bit of the concert on tv this week, and got excited all over again about hearing them. Wow! Absolutely fantastic. "Lyin' Eyes", "Take It Easy" ... with harmonies like that, how can you sing a wrong note! The concert was pure music... no flashy dancers, no smoke and mirrors ... just a bunch of fellows in front of mikes playing really good music well. Pure heaven.

I cannot limit myself to a few songs that mean the most to me. Most of my life's memories are centered around music, and many many songs have deep meanings due to the memories they evoke.

So I have shared 5 favorite concerts... I hope that sufficed.
