GREENVILLE, SC—Greenville 3B Andrew Pinckney broke a 6-6 tie in the bottom of the tenth inning with a HR against Catfish RHP Brian Akin as the Catfish fell to the Bombers tonight 7-6 in 10 innings at Greenville Municipal Stadium. Catfish RF Sergio Pedroza hit a two-run HR in the bottom of the ninth inning with two outs to tie the game but the Catfish comeback was spoiled in the 10th by Pinckney's 14th dinger of the season. Pedroza finished the game 2-5 with a double, HR, and three RBI, while C Chris Westervelt, CF Ryan Russ, and 2B Brandon Carter each had multi-hit games. The Catfish and Bombers split the four-game series with Columbus falling to 18-18 in the second half (46-59) and Greenville improving to 18-19 (53-52).

Neither team scored tonight until the fifth inning, but the Catfish took the 1-0 lead on Carter's two out single. While RHP Jarod Plummer allowed only two Greenville base runners in the first four innings, he was tagged for five runs in the fifth. The Fish chipped away with runs in the sixth, seventh, and eighth. Trailing 6-4 in the ninth inning, a one-out double by 3B Blake DeWitt brought the tying run to the plate. With two outs and a 1-1 count, Pedroza hit his fifth HR of the season in 18 games, tying the game at six.

In the tenth, Pinckney crushed Akin's fourth pitch over the wall in center to cement the victory for Greenville. The Catfish now hold a 10-9 advantage over the Bombers in the season series, which concludes August 20th-23rd at Golden Park. The Catfish resume play on Thursday on Tommy Lasorda Bobblehead Night at Golden Park at 7:00 PM with the first game of a four-game series with the Savannah Sand Gnats. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 PM with RHP Chris Malone (8-5, 3.89 ERA) on the hill for the Fish.
