Yeah, er… I just noticed that Sortapundit put up a photo of himself on the site. I was just wondering, er, well, what’s it like having to keep the ladies away with a stick. What with being so, y’know, good looking and stuff.

What you don’t see in that picture is my 36FF man-boobs. Turns out the ladies don’t love ‘em.

Have you met your fundraising goals for your trip to Ulan Bataar? How much more do you still need?

Ha! God, no. We need to raise at least £1000 to enter the rally, but we have so far raised only $40 (about 20 quid). Clearly we have some way to go yet. Fortunately, though, we have a few ideas. We hope to secure some sponsorship from local businesses, get a little attention from the local media and run some fundraising events. The blogosphere has proved many times to be a powerful fundraising tool, though, so we’re hoping a lot more people will throw their spare change at us. If anyone wants to chuck us a few coins they can go here and follow the instructions. We’d greatly appreciate it.

What charity does the race benefit?

The charity is called Send A Cow. Despite the silly name it’s probably the best charity I’ve ever heard of. SAC is a Christian charity that donates livestock to east African farmers. Basically they provide a source of milk, manure and food to people who would otherwise have only what the infertile soil provides. Healthy cows fertilise the soil and increase the crop yield, and their young can be passed onto other farming families. It’s basically the ‘give a man a fish’ deal. The money we give today will still be working long after we shuffle off to the grave.

I have to ask: The Blog War between Basil’s Blog and Sortapundit. Good idea? Bad idea?

Bloody great idea. Apart from the day you guys took me off the top spot on Google for my own name. I’m still cooking up a suitable revenge for that one.

If you were a tree, what kind of nuts would you have?

Christ, I dunno. Brazil nuts are the only ones I can stomach. Nuts should be illegal.

Who is your favorite author?

That’s a tough one. I’d like to pretend to be highbrow, but whenever I sit down with a thick book it always magically turns into something by Douglas Coupland or Terry Pratchett. However, I did just finish The Old Man And The Sea, so I’ll say Hemingway and leave it at that.

Who’s the greatest political leader in the world today?

I’m gonna say Kim Jong-il. I like my politicians good and crazy. It makes life more interesting.

Who would you like to see leading the UK? The US?

They’re all as bad as each other here in the UK, so I just keep my fingers crossed that we won’t descend into a socialist nightmare world with only raw potatoes to eat. It doesn’t matter who leads the US. You guys are all as mental as each other. Beyond that it’s just a matter of degree. But, then, that’s why we love you.

Who is your favorite musician / favorite band?

Don’t make me choose! I tend to go for individual songs rather than pick a band and stick with them. Recently I’ve been listening to stuff by the Decemberists, Flaming Lips, White Stripes, Hawksley Workman, the Libertines, Badly Drawn Boy, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, the Go Team, Interpol, the Wrens… it’s probably better to ask who I hate. Celine Dion, in case you’re wondering.

What’s the hardest thing about facing an addiction?

Ah, an easy one. It’s simple really. The hardest thing is accepting that you have a problem – after all, it’s impossible to recover if you don’t think there’s anything wrong. Once you take that first step it really isn’t that hard to get over it. Except for crack. I hear it’s really good.

Clearly, yes.

What TV show most represents your life?

I want to say CSI: Miami. I’d like to break up my sentences with the application of sunglasses. This interview, my friend… *puts on shades* … is over.
