Catfish Back On Winning Track

Go Catfish! The Columbus Catfish returned to their winning ways tonight, downing the Asheville Tourists 6-2. The win snaps a five-game losing streak and puts the Catfish seven games behind division-leading Rome, who split two with Augusta tonight.

The Catfish attack was led by Eduardo Perez, who was 3-for-4, with 3 doubles, 2 RBIs, and a run scored. Last week's SAL player of the week, Sergio Pedroza was 1-for-2 with 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Lucas May was 2-for-4 with 2 runs scored.

Mario Alvarez picked up his first win of the year, allowing just three hits in 6 innings. Cory Wade picked up his second save with three perfect innings pitched.

Once again, good pitching kept the opposition off-balance, allowing the Catfish to take the win. Last night, the Catfish set a Columbus record with 23 strike-outs, breaking the old record of 19, set by the Columbus Indians in 1991.

Tomorrow afternoon, the Catfish and the Tourists battle in the third game of the four-game series.
