Catfish Win Home Opener, Third Straight Game

Tonight was a great night for baseball, and the Columbus Catfish gave a larger-than-usual crowd a present to open the 2006 home season, beating the Charleston RiverDogs (Yankees), 3-1.

The win was witnessed by 2,765 fans. While that's not nearly as much as many teams draw, it's nearly triple last season's average attendance for the Catfish.

Marlon Arias, playing his first year of Class-A ball, pitched 5 innings, allowing a single run, to take the win. Francisco Felix picked up his second save of the young season.

The win is the Catfish' third in a row. Tomorrow, they take on Charleston again.

Oh, I got pictures from the game. They were taken from my seat behind home plate.

First run of the game scored by Catfish outfielder Adam Godwin,
who bunted for a single, stole second, advanced to third on an error,
and scored on a wild pitch
