Taleena (Sun Comprehending Glass)

The interviews continue today with Taleena (Sun Comprehending Glass)...

The panel has their questions ready...

First question, please...

Don
With teh Verbalist and Muralist already taken, what will be the eventual name for the Infant?

I am kind of waiting for a personality trait to be made manifest. The Verbalist and the Muralist both earned their nicknames. Currently under contention or Shrieky and McStinklestein but that would just be cruel.

What's the best thing about blogging?

I can dribble on about my kids, books and movies and people actually send me mail asking for more!

Sherlock
Who's the greatest character in all of literature?

Wow. That's hard. Bertie Wooster. Engaging vacuousness must be difficult to write and Jeeves needs a foil for his brilliance. PG Wodehouse is a genius, who else could write the same silly story over and over again without boring you to tears? Bertie is followed closely by Atticus Finch and Ransom from CS Lewis' Space Trilogy -august company to be sure.

What's your favorite passage of Scripture?

Another hard one. Lately, I have really been meditating on Isaiah 61 especially verses 1,3 and 4.

  1. The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me,
because the LORD has anointed me
to preach good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners,

  2. and provide for those who grieve in Zion...
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
    instead of ashes,
    the oil of gladness
    instead of mourning,
    and a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
    a planting of the LORD
for the display of his splendor.

  3. They will rebuild the ancient ruins
    and restore the places long devastated;
they will renew the ruined cities
that have been devastated for generations.

What's your favorite poem?

Casey at the Bat. No, actually it's "The Dream" by John Donne.

squirrel
What's the most Redneck / White trash thing you've ever done?

*Blush* I got arrested for contempt of court. In my defense, I thought the case was dismissed.

Recommend a book.

Non-fiction, Mere Theology by Will Vaus Fiction, Three Men in a Boat by Jerome K. Jerome

basil
What's in your purse?

Ah want to know my true secrets I see! wallet, checkbook, mints, chapstick, baggie of Cheerios, apple, Milky Way bar, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles band aids, travel size tissue pack, travel Soduku book, packet of tea, 3 Splenda packets, 3 pens, 6 Tylenol, pocketknife, 52 cents and my book du jour - right now it's There Will Be Dragons by John Ringo.

DonW
Describe a perfect day.

A perfect summer's day. I get up when I'm ready to and have a cup of tea. It's not raining. (I do live in Washington State after all) I read my book. I write a bit and feel like I have accomplished something. Pack a picnic basket, kids, hubby and dog in a car and go to the beach, where kids and dog wear themselves out while I read my book some more. Go home and barbecue while the radio plays good music or broadcasts a sporting event. Play a board game and then watch the stars come out.

bachman
What's the snarkiest thing you ever said?

If I admitted that, you'd revoke my Nice Person Card. I admit calling a lady of my acquaintance a "selfish Prima Donna who co-opts other people's legitimate needs for the attention it brings her." Sometimes I am not nice at all.

Sherlock
What's the best Christmas gift you ever recieved?

I really don't remember Christmas gifts too well past a year or so. I did have a couple of standouts from kidhood, mostly I had a real deep ingrained gratitude that Santa thought I was good enough to get a gift.

DonW
What's your favorite holiday?

Independence Day. I love blowing stuff up.

basil
The Three Stooges? Or the Marx Brothers?

Oh please. Not even close to the comedic genius of Hope and Crosby in the Road pictures.

Thanks to Taleena for agreeing to the interview. We really enjoyed it and really, really appreciate it.

Next week, it's The Man (GOP and the City) and of Karen (Pondering Penguin). We're looking forward to that.
