Catfish Open Homestand With Loss

The Columbus Catfish dropped the first game of the homestand tonight. The Savannah Sandgnats beat the Catfish 7-3.

The Catfish scored in the first inning on Lucas May's double, and Russ Mitchell's single. They added another run in the second on Andrew Locke's walk, and error, and Shane Justis' sacrafice fly. They couldn't hold the lead, with Mario Alvarez walking in a run in the third, then allowing five more in the sixth on a Sandgnat homer, three singles, and a triple.

Both teams scored a run in the ninth, and the Catfish wound up on the short end.

The loss drops the Catfish to 16-17, seven games behind the Rome Braves.

Game two of the series with Savannah is Friday night.
