Catfish Shut Down Greenjackets

The Columbus Catfish won just their second game in their last 10 tries, besting the Augusta Greenjackets 5-1.

Brent Leach, the SAL pitcher of the week, scattered 4 hits over 6-2/3 innings, struck out eight, and took his second win of the season.

Catfish batters only managed six hits, all singles and one less hit than Augusta. But timely hitting, five stolen bases (including Ivan De Jesus stealing home on a double-steal), seven walks and an Augusta error combined to allow the Catfish to push across four earned runs and an unearned run.

The Catfish are still 8-1/2 games behind Rome in the Southern Division of the South Atlantic League. They face Augusta again Thursday night. A win, and they move up to fifth place.
