Catfish losing streak at 8

Hard times have indeed fallen on the Columbus Catfish.

The Greenville Drive (Red Sox) used the middle innings to erase a Catfish lead and go on to send them to their 8th straight loss, 6-3 Friday night.

Greenville was led by Ryan Kalish (3-5 with a run, triple and a run batted in), Che-Hsuan Lin (2-4 with 2 runs, a double and 2 runs batted in) and Manuel Arambarris (2-4 with a run). Kyle Fernandes recorded his first win of the season after throwing 2 and 1/3 innings of shutout baseball, allowing only 2 hits and 2 walks while striking out 3. Bryce Cox recorded his 4th save after throwing 2 and 2/3 innings, allowing only 2 hits while striking out 4.

Columbus was led by Shawn O'Malley, who continued his hot hitting with a 3-4 day with a walk, double and run batted in. Henry Wrigley went 2-4 with a run, triple and a run batted in and Stephen Vogt was 2-4 with a run batted in and a double. Joshua Johnson picked up his 6th loss and 2nd straight as a reliever after allowing 3 earned runs in 1 and 1/3 innings.

The Catfish look to get on the winning track Saturday night, when the two teams face off in the 3rd game of the series.
