The "Best" Movies: Recap, part 18

I'm giving a rundown of the "best" movies (details about the list are here). I've done 170 so far. Now, the next 10:
  • The General (1927)
    #18 Top 100 (2007)
This 1927 silent film by Buster Keaton rocks! Slightly based on a true story (Andrews' Raid). And it's one of the greatest movies ever.
  • The Godfather
    #3 Top 100 (1998)
    #2 Top 100 (2007)
    #1 Gangster movie
    Best Picture (1972)
    This one is awesome.
  • The Godfather Part II
    #32 Top 100 (1998)
    #32 Top 100 (2007)
    #3 Gangster movie
    Best Picture (1974)
    And so is this one.
  • The Gold Rush
    #74 Top 100 (1998)
    #58 Top 100 (2007)
Charlie Chaplain eats his shoe. Good film.
  • The Graduate
    #7 Top 100 (1998)
    #17 Top 100 (2007)
    One word: plastics.
  • The Grapes of Wrath
    #21 Top 100 (1998)
    #23 Top 100 (2007)
Okay film. But not much more than okay, in my book.
  • The Great Ziegfeld
    Best Picture (1936)
Good film. William Powell and Myrna Loy don't play Nick and Nora Charles, but they make a great couple anyway.
  • The Greatest Show on Earth
    Best Picture (1953)
Jimmy Stewart plays a killer clown. Really.
  • The Hustler
    #6 Sports movie
Jackie Gleason is wonderful. Paul Newman is good. And this film is a winner.
  • The Jazz Singer (1927)
    #90 Top 100 (1998)
A silent film with singing, and Jolson in blackface.
42 more to go. Another 10 coming soon.
