Ray Stevens: "We The People"

Remember Ray Stevens? Sang lots of comedy songs. Like "Ahab the Arab," "Gitarzan," "The Streak," "It's Me Again, Margaret," "Shriner's Convention," "In the Mood" (the one done by the chickens) ... oh, the list goes on and on.

His biggest hit was "Everything Is Beautiful," a Grammy-award winning song from 1970, which was one of the very few songs to chart on the Hot 100 (#1), Adult Contemporary (#1), Country, and Soul (as it was called then; later Black, R&B, Urban, etc) charts. But, most of his career has been comedy recordings.

I saw him do a free show in North Carolina years ago. I didn't really want to go, but I'm glad I did; I thoroughly enjoyed it.

He's back. Or still around. Whichever. And, he's taken on Obamacare and the Congress:

Ray Stevens will be 71 next month. He's till making appearances. He'll be in Myrtle Beach, SC, on September 11th, 2010.
