The Patrick Troughton stuff is somewhat less awful but often dull. Also I just didn't like him as the Doctor. In the same way I don't like Ron Paul as President. He's just wrong for the part and the weird fur coat...

However then you get into the Jon Pertwee years which in my opinion are some of the best. He's Earthbound for a lot of it (easier on th budget I guess) but the show really comes to life. I think Pertwee was the first acyor that really suited the role.blargnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3052406779197845814.post-87626905672020799032014-01-12T06:13:57.000-05:002014-01-12T06:13:57.000-05:00Hey, it just occurred to me -- by the end of all t...Hey, it just occurred to me -- by the end of all this, you'll be a Foremost Expert on Doctor Who.

In other words, you're working towards your Doctorate -- but that joke must already have been made by someone, somewhere (sometime).Opponoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3052406779197845814.post-75113167678211564312014-01-12T14:22:46.000-05:002014-01-12T14:22:46.000-05:00You have it wrong Basil. The Fight at the OK corral went exactly like that, until a later doctor returns and changed the sequence of events ( being careful to not meet himself) to the one you are familiar with. Okay maybe not. Let me tell you what I tel lme kids in such moments:

"If you're wondering how he Joel eats and breathes And other science facts Then repeat to yourself 'It's just a show, I should really just relax.'"Weisshauptnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3052406779197845814.post-10305726033114945732014-01-13T04:04:06.000-05:002014-01-13T04:04:06.000-05:00You're right about the accents in the Gunfight...You're right about the accents in the Gunfighters but in fairness, even fifty years later, 90+% of the British accents heard in US tv shows are unlike anything you would ever hear in the UK and the reverse is probably also true.

P.S. Pertwee is my preferred Doctor although I also liked Tom Baker.Nicknoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3052406779197845814.post-18667703477432109552014-01-14T05:22:12.000-05:002014-01-14T05:22:12.000-05:00I watch them over and over. The couple in the very last shot were supposed to be Barbara and Ian, but the actors were unavailable. I always thougt it odd that they shot the scene without them.cameca8noreply@blogger.com
