It is only after they talk that she is so torn between Rick and Laszlo that she tells Rick he must do the thinking for both of them. He says he will and he does, concocting the scheme to send her off with Laszlo. She goes with Laszlo in the end making it, for me, a story of her temptation but ultimate fidelity.Retreadhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00838630351297200179noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3052406779197845814.post-40121755278141679452010-04-27T13:43:33.040-04:002010-04-27T13:43:33.040-04:00Kerry B:

But to me, one of the strengths of Casablanca is that all of the characters are flawed (excepting, perhaps Laszlo), and, despite their wants and desires, do the right thing.

Rick was correct in that, if she didn't go with Laszlo, she'd regret it. So, yes, she was going to make a terrible mistake.

She was young and weak. For so long I had heard how fantastic this movie was, and when I finally saw it, I was...well, I didn't like it. I couldn't believe that people think that is a great love story. I have no respect for Ilsa. She is a disgrace as a wife. And not because she moved forward after thinking her husband was dead, but because she was willing to leave him at the end. Marriage is supposed to be forever. Everything else in the movie is wonderful, and I love old b/w movies, but I just can't get past that one point.Kerry Bhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05995250990670050350noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3052406779197845814.post-16294544448047131102010-04-27T00:04:01.917-04:002010-04-27T00:04:01.917-04:00My health, I came to Casablanca for the waters.
