Catfish Fall Below .500 in Second Half

Although guaranteed a winning record for the entire season, the Columbus Catfish are still fighting to stay at .500 for the 2nd half. It's still in reach, but only if they win Monday. That's because they fell a game under .500 for the 2nd half with today's 13-3 loss to the Charleston Riverdogs (Yankees).

The Catfish were up 3-0 early before things fell apart. In the 2nd inning, 3B Juan Rivera drove in 1B David Sutherland on a single to center field. In the 5th, the Catfish added two more when DH Eduardo Perez singled, scoring RF Lucas May, who had reached on a single, and on David Sutherland ground out that scored C Anthony Harper, making it 3-0.

That was all the scoring for the Catfish, as Charleston took the lead in the bottom of the 5th. 4 singles, a hit batsman, and a wild pitch made it 4-3 Charleston.

The 7th inning saw Charleston put two more runs on the board. The 8th inning was a nightmare for the Catfish. Charleston scored 7 runs on 5 singles, a double, a hit batsman, a walk, and 2 errors.

When the Catfish failed to score in the 9th, the game ended 13-3 Charleston.

The season ends Monday in Charleston, with the Catfish needing a win to finish the 2nd half at 35-35. For the entire season, they are 71-68, guranteed their best record since moving to Columbus.
