Catfish fall in opener at Lexington

Next year, the Columbus Catfish will play ball in Bowling Green, Kentucky. They won't be the Catfish, but they already have a cross-state rival waiting for them.

The Lexington Legends (Astros) beat the Catfish 16-10 in a slugfest Sunday night, opening a 4-game series on a down note.

The teams combined for 32 hits and five home runs; three of the homers were from Lexington catcher Jonathan Fixler, who had only four coming into the game.

Columbus (17-11) scored twice in the first inning as Henry Wrigley (double) and Chase Fontaine (single) came through with two-out RBI hits. But the Legends (8-21) roughed up Catfish starting pitcher Alexander Cobb (7-6) for four runs in the bottom of the inning, and the Fish never led again.
The Catfish outhit Lexington, 17-15, but were outdone where it matters.

Game two of the 4-game series is Monday night.
