Now, I always thought Vegans were inhabitants of the Vega Colony. Either way, they're not of this planet.
"Vegetarian," by the way, is Latin for "bad hunter."
What brings this up?
There's a story out tonight that folks that don't eat meat -- that just eat vegetables -- have smaller brains:
Scientists have discovered that going veggie could be bad for your brain-with those on a meat-free diet six times more likely to suffer brain shrinkage.
Vegans and vegetarians are the most likely to be deficient because the best sources of the vitamin are meat, particularly liver, milk and fish. Vitamin B12 deficiency can also cause anaemia and inflammation of the nervous system. Yeast extracts are one of the few vegetarian foods which provide good levels of the vitamin.
Let's see: Sprout-eating lefties support Barack Obama. Sprout-eating lefties have smaller brains.
It fits.
Latin for Bad Hunter. Love it!
ReplyDeleteIt makes a certain amount of sense. Meat eaters are hunters. They hunt, by and large, vegetarians--ungulates that feed off grass and other plants. Ungulates are kind of stupid. They don't have to do much but convert grass and leaves into meat for carnivores--and fart, thus adding to global warming. Hunters have to be smarter than their prey, whose only defenses are to camouflage themselves behind plants or hide in large herds hoping they won't be culled out. Eat meat and be on the top of your game. Besides, if God had intended us to be vegetarians, why did he make animals out of meat?
ReplyDeleteI must say that I take a bit of offense to this as I don't think I have a small brain at all. I've never cared much for meat and have gone years without eating any. To insult your own daughter! Tsk.
ReplyDeleteThe difference between a vegetarian and a vegan is that vegans do not eat any animal products (milk, fish, honey, eggs) but vegetarians will ~ although there are different variations. Vegans are vegetarians, but vegetarians are not vegans. Like squares and rectangles. :)
But you're not a sprout-eating lefty. You're a sprout-eating righty.
ReplyDeleteStudy shows 6 times the likelihood of brain shrinkage for vegans and vegetarians because of the B12 deficiency of those diets.
As long as you keep the proper amount of B12, you'll stay conservative and big-brained.
