Catfish take the lead against Augusta |
Down 1-0 going into the bottom of the 1st, the Catfish tied it up on DH Greg Sexton's double to left that scored RF Jackson Brennan, who had walked.
Down 2-1 going into the bottom of the 5th, the Catfish took the lead. C Stephen Vogt singled, was sacrificed to second, went to third on a wild pitch, and scored on a single by LF Shawn Williams. CF Maiko Loyola gave the Catfish the lead with a 2-run single to center, sending Brennan and Williams across the plate.
Leading 4-2 the Catfish extend the lead in the 8th. Batting around, the Catfish put 7 runs across in the inning, turning a tight contest into a laugher.
Catfish starter Josh Johnson went 5 innings, allowing 2 runs on 4 hits, striking out a pair. Jesse Darcy pitched the final 4 innings, picking up his 1st save of the season.
Every Catfish batter got at least 1 hit on the night, with Brennan, Loyola, Sexton, and Vogt each getting a pair.
The win gives the Catfish a split with Augusta. They head to Hickory, North Carolina for 4 against the Crawdads on Tuesday night.
