Catfish lose late to Savannah

Another good pitching performance wasn't enough for the Columbus Catfish to break out of their losing streak.

Alex Cobb pitched 7-1/3 innings, allowing 2 runs on 6 hits, striking out 4, but took his 4th loss of the year as the Catfish dropped a 2-1 decision to the Savannah Sand Gnats (Mets) tonight.

LF Reid Fronk homered in the 6th to put the Catfish up 1-0.

Savannah scored twice in the 8th to take the lead and chase Cobb from the mound.

The Catfish had opportunities throughout the game, leaving 6 runners on base, 4 in scoring position.

The loss is the 11th in a row for the Catfish, the 4th 1-run loss in that stretch.

Game two of the 4-game series is Tuesday night.

  1. Well, maybe tonight's game will be better. Losing definitely is the worse.
