Star Trek questions

Just saw the Star Trek movie. The new one. Number 11. The "re-boot."

And I got questions.

Which means...

**SPOILER ALERT**

In the original timeline, James Kirk was born March 22nd, 2233 in Riverside, Iowa. In the altered timeline, he was born premature. (The timeline didn't alter until the Romulan came through the time-thingy, so Kirk's pregnant mother on the Kelvin would have been before the timeline split.) So, what's his new birthday?

Why was Winona Kirk on the Kelvin anyway? Didn't they not put families on starships until Picard's time?

Where did Scotty get that scaly Ewok?

Why didn't I see Christine Chapel?

In the original timeline, Ensign Kirk's first assignment was in the 2250s with Lt. Ben Finney, aboard the USS Republic. (His first deep space assignment was as a Lieutenant on the USS Farragut.) Kirk wasn't there to catch Finney's mistake. Was the Farragut destroyed?

In the original timeline, Kirk taught at Star Fleet Academy. In the altered timeline, he went from cheating on the Kobayashi Maru to the Enterprise. So, no encounter with the cloud vampire?

And did Kirk never befriend Gary Mitchell?

Since Kirk saw Romulans in the timeship, does this mean that it was no big deal to see them in "Balance of Terror?"

In the new timeline, Kirk's first assignment was as a medical stowaway on the USS Enterprise. And, if Chekov was born in 2245, and he's 17 in the movie, then the movie is set about 2262. Okay, there's no question here. I'm just not sure what all this means. Other than... do I care way too much about Star Trek?

That's the real question, isn't it?
