Catfish Clobbered Again

The Savannah Sand Gnats (Mets) continue to be a thorn in the side of the Columbus Catfish. Savannah beat the Catfish again today, 8-2.

An error, 3 singles, and back-to-back homers before the first out was recorded put Savannah up 6-0 in the 1st inning. A 2-run homer in the 2nd gave Savannah an 8-0 lead in the 2nd inning.

The Catfish didn't get on the board until the 6th inning. After 3B Cesar Suarez led off by reaching on an error, LF Ryan Royster hit a 1-out homer, making it 8-2, but that's all the Catfish could muster.

The Catfish had runners on base in every inning but 1. In fact, every Catfish batter but the 2 catchers made it on base. However, they stranded 10 base runners.

Suarez was the only Catfish batter to have more than 1 hit, going 2-for-5 with a run scored.

The series in Savannah continues, with the Catfish needing to win Monday's and Tuesday's games in order to gain a split.

The loss drops the Catfish from 1st place in the division.
