Boicot

Today's the day of the Grand Boicot, huh?

Some thoughts:

I wish that everyone who stays away from work in support is in the line at the labor department tomorrow. They ought to just fire everyone who tries to stay home to support illegal immigrants.

If all the "legals" who stay off work today are fired and replaced by illegals, I'd laugh my ass off.

Any employer who is adversely affected by illegals not showing up deserves to be hurt by illegals not showing up.

Finally...

There's a lady I've seen in Phenix City that does yards. She had two small children and takes them to work with her sometimes. She seems to walk everywhere she goes, taking along to two youngsters in a little wagon, that also holds her yardwork tools.

She's in her 20s, or so she appears. She's a light-skinned Black woman. She looks like just about anyone else you'd see around here in 2006, or in 1906.

Is she an illegal? You probably wouldn't ask that question of her any more than you'd ask it of me.

Profiling? Perhaps.

But she's doing the work that others don't like to do ... or have time to do.

On the downside, her work is obviously affected by the weather. On the upside, she's her own boss.

The kids don't look malnourished or mistreated. They are always playing and happy, or so it seems.

She's a mom, taking care of her children, working the job she needs to work to make ends meet.

She's an American.

So, if you're in the Columbus-Phenix City area, and you get hit by the Grand Boicot and it affects your yard-work, why not look for this lady?
