Catfish Back On Winning Track

After dropping 3 of 4 to Charleston, including 2 in a row, the Columbus Catfish beat the Rome Braves in the home stand opener Saturday night.
Joshua Butler fired seven dominant innings as Columbus blanked visiting Rome, 2-0, on Saturday.

Butler (4-1) gave up three hits, walked one and struck out a season-high six as the Catfish (36-20) posted their fifth shutout of the year. The 22-year-old right-hander lowered his ERA to 2.14.

Neal Frontz walked one and fanned one over two hitless frames for his eighth save.

John Matulia smacked his second homer, a solo shot to right field in the first inning, to give Columbus a 1-0 lead. Nevin Ashley hit his fifth homer, also a solo blast, in the fourth.

The series continues Sunday afternoon.
