The "Best" Movies: Recap, part 12

I'm giving a rundown of the "best" movies (details about the list are here). I've covered 110 of the films so far. Now, the next 10:
  • My Fair Lady
    #91 Top 100 (1998)
    Best Picture (1964)
Actually read the play (Pygmalion) before I saw the movie. Enjoyed them both. This movie should be on your "I gotta see it" list if you haven't already seen it.
  • Nashville
    #59 Top 100 (2007)
I so much wanted to enjoy this movie. Unfortunately, my taste in movies got in the way.
  • National Velvet
    #9 Sports movie
    Boring.
  • Network
    #64 Top 100 (2007)
    #66 Top 100 (1998)
Good movie. Dead guy won an Oscar for saying "I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore."
  • No Country for Old Men
    Best Picture (2007)
    Blah.
  • North by Northwest
    #40 Top 100 (1998)
    #55 Top 100 (2007)
    #7 Mystery
Great film. As a bonus, Cary Grant gets chased up Abraham Lincoln's nose.
  • Oliver!
    Best Picture (1968)
Lame musical. Last G-rated movie to win the Oscar.
  • On the Waterfront
    #8 Top 100 (1998)
    #19 Top 100 (2007)
    Best Picture (1954)
Okay but not great film. Karl Malden saves it.
  • One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
    #20 Top 100 (1998)
    #33 Top 100 (2007)
    Best Picture (1975)
Second film to win top awards for Actor, Actress, Picture, and Director. But not a great film.
  • Ordinary People
    Best Picture (1980)
A dysfunctional family film. I want my 2 hours and four minutes back.
120 down. 102 to go. The next 10 coming up soon.

  1. The only one that I have seen on this list in its entirety was "No Country for Old Men" and it was terrible for me.

I guess that I could say, "I so much wanted to enjoy this movie. Unfortunately, my taste in movies got in the way." Classic Basil.
