The "Best" Movies: Recap, part 17

I'm giving a rundown of the "best" movies (details about the list are here). I've covered 160 of the movies. Here are the next 10:
  • The Apartment
    #93 Top 100 (1998)
    #80 Top 100 (2007)
    Best Picture (1960)
Pretty good film. Jack Lemmon works his way to the top by letting others sleep their way
  • The Best Years of Our Lives
    #37 Top 100 (1998)
    #37 Top 100 (2007)
    Best Picture (1946)
Pretty good film. But nothing great. It beat out "It's A Wonderful Life" for the Oscar.
  • The Birth of a Nation
    #44 Top 100 (1998)
A waste of three hours and 10 minutes.
  • The Bridge on the River Kwai
    #13 Top 100 (1998)
    #36 Top 100 (2007)
    Best Picture (1957)
Good movie. You should watch this movie. I have already given the order.
  • The Broadway Melody (1929)
    Best Picture (1929)
Actually, a pretty decent film. Won the second Oscar (and the first where the award wasn't split).
  • The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951)
    #5 Science fiction
    Three words: Klaatu barada nikto.
  • The Deer Hunter
    #79 Top 100 (1998)
    #53 Top 100 (2007)
    Best Picture (1978)
It was alright, but not any better than alright. Christopher Walken played a Christopher Walken character.
  • The Departed
    Best Picture (2006)
I don't remember much about this movie. I think it had cops in it.
  • The English Patient
    Best Picture (1996)
Ralph Fiennes gets burned and is bedridden. That pretty much sums it up.
  • The French Connection
    #70 Top 100 (1998)
    #93 Top 100 (2007)
    Best Picture (1971)
Good action film. Gene Hackman at his best.
That's 170 films down, 52 more to go.
