42

My first visit to a blog was a little over three years ago. Some 20-something up-and-comer who worked at the same Evil Corporation as me decided to quit his cushy job and walk the Appalachian Trail. He said he'd post his diary online. I guess he didn't take a long enough extension cord, because he didn't post for very long. Anyway, he came back looking like Ted Kaczynski. And not a young Ted, but the wild-eyed bugger who lived in an outhouse. So I stayed away from blogs.

Fast-forward to the Autumn of 2004. Despite having heard about or read (actually skimmed over) articles about blogs, I never went near any until Bill O'Reilly mentioned Little Green Footballs during the CBS memo scandal. I logged on (actually, early the next morning; unable to connect because of all the traffic Bill must have generated). I was fascinated.

Then, instead of watching the news to laugh at silly people, I found humor blogs like IMAO and RightWing Duck. I was hooked!

But, like any kid in the toy aisle at K-Mart[shameless link - buy stuff], I wanted one, too.

So now I got one. BFHD.

Oh, in case you're wondering about the title of this post ("42"), my insane ramblings went this way:
I got a blog! Great! Now what? I need to post something. Something funny? It would help if I was funny. Something profound? It would help if I was profound. Something... what? Why did I do this? Why am I here? Why are we all here? What does it all mean? What's the meaning of life? What's the answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything?
And then I had my title.
