Catfish Beat Augusta Again

Columbus Catfish logoThursday night, the Columbus Catfish beat the Augusta Greenjackets 3-2 in 12 innings. Tampa Bay Devil Rays Minor League Player of the Month Desmond Jennings scored the go-ahead run in the 12th. Catfish P Ryan Reid struck out the side in the bottom of the 12th to earn his 2nd save of the season.
Jennings doubled with one out off reliever Clayton Tanner, advanced on a walk and stole third with two outs. He scored on a passed ball by Nestor Rojas.

The Catfish (22-12), who totaled just four hits, took a 2-0 lead on Matthew Fields' second-inning RBI double and Ryan Royster's fourth-inning RBI single.

Columbus starter Wilton Noel faced the minimum over five innings, the first 13 batters before yielding a one-out single to Matthew Weston in the fifth. He concluded his outing by inducing Henry Gutierrez to ground out into a double play to end the frame. He fanned two and did not walk a batter.

Ryan Owen (3-2) picked up the win, despite giving up two runs on three hits and a walk over three innings.

It's only Augusta's 8th loss of the season, and the 4th to the Catfish.
