What Happened To Basil

Nothing. He simply asked me to post a few over here while he works over Typepad. I am grateful for the opportunity. In case you don't know me, I'm Don Surber from Poca, W.Va., home of the Dots!

Here is what I will do. I will post a couple of paragraphs from today's afternoon post, Gooder Writing. If you like it, continue. If not, leave a comment and tell me why.

Citizen journalism is profoundly American. The term harkens to our founding when Minutemen stood ready to defend the nation on a minute’s notice. But like those Concordians of yore, citizen journalists need some instruction. I have been newspapering for a few weeks now, so I offer my advice. This ain’t rocket science.

The ABCs of journalism are accuracy, brevity and clarity.
