ALa (blonde sagacity)

Today, another favorite has agreed to answer questions. It's ALa of blonde sagacity...
ALa

The interview panel is ready to go...

Now, the first question...

If you were to suddenly acquire 100,000 dollars (Amercan) how much do you think you would you spend on AMMO?

ALa
Unless there is a new purse designer named AMMO...none.

chillbeforeserving
If you had to give up all but three of your material possessions, what would they be and why?

ALa
This is just mean...I am a Material Girl!

Okay, my Jeep because I refuse to take public transportation. My Kooba bag, because I don't know anyone else (that isn't famous) that has one. My computer because it's my contact with the outside world. ...But truthfully I think I'd rather just die.

Don
Conservatives who like Bob Marley are like liberals who like ... ?

ALa
...to shower?

Have you ever been threatened because of something you wrote on your blog?

ALa
Well, I did get an amusing letter from an Illuminati that I think was supposed to be threatening.

Other than that, I have gotten very vicious/misogynistic things telling me how ugly and stupid I am (using very colorful language)...but no outright threats that I remember... Where's my fatwa?

VandHengineers
How do you deal with the frustration that happens when you make an incredibly incisive point and your detractors respond with inane off-topic drivel like "Bush lied about WMD"? That's the hardest part of blogging, IMHO.

ALa
I agree, this is very frustrating, but worse is when I write something (I think is) really funny and no one gets it! Tap, tap, tap...is this thing on... Really, so many people assume that I am so serious and all I think about is politics, but in real life I'm pretty silly and would rather hang with a funny lib (is there such a thing?) than a stick-in-the-mud Republican.

Thankfully I have many funny conservative friends so I don't need to resort to that!

DonW
Do you own any George Thorogood, AC/DC, Black Sabbath or Led Zeppelin t-shirts?

ALa
No, I don't do the concert shirt thing. I do however have a Metallica backstage pass sewn on my leather motorcycle jacket. Does that count?

basil
What's the best thing about Philadelphia?

ALa
I love that there's an abundance of everything. Great shops, GREAT restaurants, tons of history, bars, and clubs. It's like a smaller, cleaner, English-speaking New York City.

What do you think are the most prominent characteristics of a conservative?

ALa
Someone that truly believes in small government (that means government programs as well as staying out of censorship issues), someone that believes in State's rights and a limited judiciary, someone that adheres to the Constitution and understands that the people are the ones to change it and not the 9th circuit judges and someone that believes that all people have the potential to succeed in a free market.

bachman
Recommend a book.

ALa
One book? That's hard, I've read so many good books this year. If I could only get you to read one it would be "Generation Kill" by Evan Wright...and if you've read that already "My War: Killing Time in Iraq" by my blogfather, Colby Buzzell (CBFTW).

Don
Which is easier to deal with, an overtired 2-year-old or Blogger.com?

ALa
There are times I have almost thrown my computer across the room because of Blogger -though in their defense, I must say it's been much better lately. I flirt with getting my own domain, but I do like the community Blogger provides.

mimi
Who is your hero/heroine?

ALa
Truthfully I don't really have one. I learned long ago that people are fallible and having heroes usually ends in being disillusioned. There are many people that I admire --one that comes to mind is JK Rowling.

A single mom that was on the dole, and writing her story on coffee shop napkins, that worked hard and is now one of the richest woman in the UK despite the cut-throat atmosphere of the publishing industry.

Do you agree that most liberal politicians are weak on defense?

ALa
I do believe that, but that's because it goes against their core beliefs. Even when they try to be hawkish they create a bigger mess (Like LBJ in Vietnam).

DonW
Who is your favorite musician/band?

ALa
Another really hard question. For the first part of my life I would have said Van Halen (DLR days) and then I would have said Metallica (pre-Black album), but now I burn mixed CDs and listen to tons of everything (when I'm not listening to talk radio like the nerd I really am).

basil
When the Wife and I finally vacation in Philadelphia, where should we go to eat?

ALa
Email me and The Man and I will take you to one of two places -Jones Restaurant (7th & Chestnut) which has incredible comfort food and the best key lime pie ever or -Vietnam (11th & Race) which pretty much speaks for itself. People can say what they will about Philly, but we have some of THE BEST restaurants!

VandHengineers
Who's the coolest contributor to your site who also happens to live in Iowa?

ALa
Why I believe that would have to be the dashing Russ from Winterset...who has been mysteriously AWOL!

What would you predict to be the law of the land regarding abortion in 50 years?

ALa
I'm going to guess that since the left is systematically aborting their future voting base it's going to be a state-by-state issue --as it should be.

Don
How should we finish matters in Iraq?

ALa
Napalm. No, seriously, I have no idea but I wish I felt like someone did.

Sherlock
What was your worst day blogging?

ALa
A day when a liberal blogger took something I had written purely as an opinion piece and republished it on his site as if I were saying it was some grand thesis. My readers are awesome though and quickly took care of the situation.

bachman
What was your best day blogging?

ALa
Anytime I am contacted by someone I have done a story about. The cousin of a girl killed by a pedophile, a swift boat veteran, the wife of a fallen soldier, and a soldier that has worked to bring over his interpreter's family from Iraq with his own money to name a few. Those were all really rewarding days. It's also fun when you get linked by one of the "Higher Beings" or "Mortal Humans"... Ahem...

Will you ever run for political office?

ALa
Never. I could never be elected...I'm too honest and blunt. I think I would like to run a campaign though.

I could be like Karl Rove, but with more hair...

DonW
You're wearing a sweater that stretches down to your feet. What color belt do you put on?

ALa
I haven't worn a belt over a sweater since 1988...but lately I've been embracing the conservative side so it would definitely have a big old belt buckle on it.

basil
Is blonde sagacity the best sagacity?

ALa
Of course that's a rhetorical question right?

Remember question #5, well the blog name is one of those things. Since most people don't seem to know what "sagacity" means -the irony of the name is lost on them... It's not Saga City folks! Yes, I'm pouting...

Gosh, this was great! I really appeciate your taking the time to do this interview. We've all learned something. Okay, I did. And that's what it's all about.Next week, we'll have interviews with Echo9er and Lost in Lima Ohio.
