Catfish 6, Rome 3

Go Catfish! The Catfish bats came alive again tonight as they pounded out 11 hits on the way to a 6-3 win over the Rome Braves. All but one of the Catfish starters had a base hit.

Both our players, Dan Batz and Lucas May had base hits. Dan also scored a run and knocked in the go-ahead run.

Tonight's middle reliever for the Catfish was Steve Nelson, who sat out last season with an injury. He returns to Columbus, having played in 2003 for the South Georgia Waves, as the Catfish were then known.

The wife and I will miss tomorrow night's game since we both have to work. But we'll catch the Sunday game as the first half of the season ends.

  1. Good game last night. I was able to be there the night before but heard it was an awesome one. What's your thoughts on the team possibly moving? I read the article on oursportscentral.com where the team denied it but I'm sure that's for business reasons. What will we do without the Fish?

  3. From what I gather, having read the article in the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer, it seems that they've reached an agreement with Columbus to stay, but have Columbia, SC as a back-up plan. At least that's my take on it. And, it might actually be a better business decision to move to Columbia, since fans there will support the team better than Columbus does.

But, again, I think the SAL would rather have a team in Columbus than Columbia, and if Heller can get a good enough deal, he'll stay.

But, if they leave, I'll wait on another team to move. The Sand Gnats are rumored to be on the way out of Savannah. And their attendance is almost as bad as Columbus.

I think we won't need to worry until 2007.

  4. I gather that we are here for next year, and then gone. If that's the case, I hope the game experience doesn't go down hill like it seemed to last year. A lot of times it seemed they were doing as little as possible to get by. THis year a good product has been made, but if they are just going to leave, why would the organization try to be successful. Hopefully, the ledger is correct though and the Fish will stay....
