Catfish: Third Loss In A Row

Catfish The Catfish road trip to Greensboro got no better this evening. The Grasshoppers (Marlins) beat Columbus, 8-6. That's the Catfish third loss in a row.

The game got ugly in the 7th inning. In the bottom of the 6th, Catfish pitcher Wesley Wright hit a batter and was ejected. The umpire made that decision because the previous batter had hit a home run.

I've met and spoken with Wesley. He doesn't strike me as that kind of player. But the umpire did what he had to do. But when the Greensboro pitcher hit the first Catfish batter, Ryan Russ, in the top of the 7th inning, it nearly got ugly. You see, after the Grasshopper pitcher hit Ryan and immediately walked off the mound. The umpire also ejected the Greensboro manager, which is standard procedure in such situations.

In other Catfish news, two pitchers shared "Pitcher of the Month" honors in the Dodgers minor league system. Blake Johnson and Chris Malone were tapped for the honors by the Catfish parent organization.
