Biscuits Edge Barons

Montgomery BiscuitsSS Reid Brignac hit a go-ahead solo home run in the 6th inning to help the Montgomery Biscuits edge the Birmingham Barons (White Sox) 3-2 Thursday night.

Birmingham went up 1-0 in the 1st inning when 2B Christopher Getz, who had reached on a 1-out single, scored on 3B Christopher Kelly's double.

The Biscuits evened the score in the 3rd. With 1 out, 2B Josh Asanovich singled, CF Fernando Perez walked, and LF Brooks Badeaux loaded the bases on a line drive single to right field. Brignac hit a sacrifice fly to left scoring Asanovich.

In the 6th inning, Brignac led off with his 2nd home run of the season, and picked up his 2nd RBI of the night, and 9th of the season, second on the team.

In the 7th inning, the Biscuits scored the deciding run. With 1 out, RF Jason Pridie singled. Asanovich followed with a single, moving Pridie to second. Pridie stole third, and scored on Birmingham C Donny Lucy's throwing error.

In the 9th, Biscuits reliever Nick Debarr loaded the bases on a walk and 2 singles. He was relieved by Dale Thayer, who struck out Lucy for the first out. Birmingham picked up a run on SS Robert Valido's sacrifice fly. Thayer stuck out CF Sean Smith to pick up the save.

Christopher Mason pitched 6-2/3 innings, allowed 1 run on 6 hits, and struck out 3. Reliever Brian Henderson finished the 7th inning, and Debarr came in and pitched the 8th, before being relieved in the 9th. Mason picked up his first win in 3 starts, while Thayer earned his 3rd save.

The Biscuits are now 8-6, in 3rd place, 2 games behind division-leading Birmingham and Mississippi (Braves).
