Our cable provider changed the lineup.
And didn't tell TiVo.
Oh, not every channel changed. For instance, the Wife has a couple of soap operas she watches on CBS. And that channel remained the same. Fox, too. And a few other channels remained the same.
That means that As The World Turns and Guiding Light were both recorded. As was 24.
But most channels changed.
Which meant that those episodes of Star Trek: Voyager and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Enterprise were missed.
Oh, TiVo recorded something, alright. Just not Voyager.
When I got around to watching shows it had recorded Monday, I hit the TiVo Central button, the Now Playing List, clicked on the Star Trek group, and selected the episode of Voyager called "11:59." That's the episode that, according to TiVo, is where "Janeway recounts the tale of her ancestor, responsible for the construction of the Millennium Gate."
Sounds like an episode of Stargate to me, since I never saw that episode of Voyager before (since I hardly ever watched Voyager when it was first-run episodes). But, I thought I'd give it a shot.
So, I hit play.
The screen went black for a second. Then the sound of sea gulls and a painting of a pirate with a bird on his shoulder.
Then, the painting spoke: "Are you ready, kids?"
They were: "Aye, aye, Captain!"
He couldn't hear them. They repeated their affirmation.
The Captain had more questions for the children, who knew all the answers:
Oooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...
Who lives in a pineapple under the sea?
Spongebob Squarepants
Absorbant and yellow and porous is he
Spongebob Squarepants
If nautical nonsense be something you wish
Spongebob Squarepants
Then drop on the deck and flop like a fish
Spongebob Squarepants
Ready?
Spongebob Squarepants
Spongebob Squarepants
Spongebob Squarepants
Sponge Bob ... Square Pants
Yes, the cable lineup had changed, and what was Spike TV was now Nickelodeon. Instead of Star Trek, I was getting Spongebob Squarepants.
And that's not the worst of it. It was an episode of Spongebob that I had already seen!
How miserable is my life?
I have grade school age children.
ReplyDeleteI have taped episodes of Spongebob. I also have Spongebob, The Movie. Three Spongebob ps3 games, and a about a half dozen Spongebob somethings for gameboys. My kids sing that theme song during every ride in my car, unless they are singing:
The sun came up and smiled at me
Said it's going to be the best one just wait and see
Jumped out of bed, and I ran out side
Feeling so extra satisfied
It's the best day ever
It's the best day ever
It's the beeeeeeest day eveeeeeeeeeeeeeer!
- which is from some Spongebob special episode.
My point?
Be happy...
At least you could turn off your TiVo.
My DVR does that all the time, I swear it just hates me. And it always seems to happen with shows that aren't put online for my very own personal viewing pleasure.
ReplyDeleteI love Spongebob's mantra...
ReplyDelete"I'm Ready! I'm Ready! I'm Ready!"
I say it every morning... totally psyches me up for the day!
Lilo:
ReplyDeleteMy youngest? He's in college. I really don't need no Spongebob. And you have my sympathy.
Meg:
This is the first real issue we've had with the TiVo. They have promised to have it fixed in 5-7 days. Which happens to be around the time of renewal. Hmmmm.
Cathy:
I guess my problem is that I've succumbed to "Resistance is futile."
Did you check out the RFD channel? (snort)
ReplyDeleteI love Spongebob...How sad is my life?!?!?! :)
ReplyDeleteJo:
ReplyDeleteNo, we didn't opt for the digital package. We just have Basic Plus.
But, isn't RFD TV the one that's right before the Black Family Channel?
