Biscuits Finally Taste Defeat

Montgomery BiscuitsThe unbeaten streak ended at four. The Montgomery Biscuits dropped the final game of a 5-game home stand against the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx (Mariners).

Things started out badly for the Biscuits. West Tenn put up 5 runs in the first inning, including 4 in one blow on a grand slam by RF Brent Johnson. They added 3 more in the 2nd, after getting the first two batters out.

The Biscuits got two runs back in the 3rd on just one hit. 2B Josh Asanovich led the inning being hit by a pitch. SS Reid Brignac walked, and both runners advanced a base on a wild pitch. With one out, 1B Chris Nowak singled, scoring Asanovich. RF Shaun Cumberland knoced in Brignac on his ground out to first, closing the gap to 8-2.

That's as close as the Biscuits got. West Tenn added another run in the 5th inning, making it 9-2.

The Biscuits had opportunities to make a game of it, but left a total of 14 runners on base, 8 in scoring position.

The Biscuits hit the road Wednesday for 5 games against the Chattanooga Lookouts (Reds). The Wife and I plan to take in a couple of those games this weekend, our first road trip of the season, as well as our first Biscuits game.

It'll be fun.
