Baseball Blogging: Not Even Close

Saturday's game against the division leading Augusta GreenJackets (Giants) went nothing like the first three games of the series. Game one was a one-run win, game two was a one-run 10-inning loss, and game three was a 12-inning loss.

Saturday afternoon, the Catfish said enough is enough and blasted the GreenJackets in game four by a 9-1 score to earn a split. The wife was really excited to see one particular play in the fifth inning, when Dan Batz (one of the players we're "sponsoring") made a great leaping horizontal catch to keep the no-hitter going for one more inning. Dan also went 1-for-3 with a double, reached when hit by a pitch, scored two runs, and had one RBI. Lucas May, our other player, was back in the line-up after a well-deserved rest the night before. Luke was also 1-for-3, reached when hit by a pitch, also scored two runs, and had one RBI.

This series has shown just how close the Catfish are to being the top team instead of the bottom. Errorless defense today made a huge difference, and when those are kept under control, the team will climb up the standings.

The entire league is off Sunday (Mother's Day). The Catfish play Monday night against new division leader Charleston RiverDogs (Yankees).

    Thanks!

    Moe:
The Catfish are offering $2.00 tickets to anyone wearing Red Sox gear to any of the games against the RiverDogs. Likewise, $2.00 tickets to anyone wearing Yankees gear when the Greenville Bombers (Red Sox) are in town.

  4. Isn't it amazing how much of a difference good defense can make? That was the first game this year that I've seen much defensive promise out of the team. Hopefully, they're finally starting to gel together!
