    Takings Moves Forward

    Reports of the demise of the Republican Congress are exaggerated. The re-election issue of 2006 is on the table after the House Resources Committee approved takings legislation, setting up for a battle in 2006.

    Katrina Was Nothing Like Rita

    Everyone marvels at the evacuation before the storm in Hurricane Rita, faintly damning once again the efforts in Hurricane Katrina. But the two natural disasters are not the same. I was surprised the Washington Post fell for it.

    Schwarzenegger said he supports the "concept" of Proposition 73 but he's not sure if he will actually take a position on the proposal. The initiative would amend the state constitution to require notification 48 hours before a minor's abortion.
