McDonald hurled a nine-inning complete game shutout against Charleston on Friday, scattering three hits and two walks while striking out 10 batters. The win was McDonald's fifth against 10 losses on the season, but the 21-year-old nonetheless compiled a respectable 3.98 ERA and struck out 146 batters over 142 1/3 innings pitched.
McDonald's final appearance for the Catfish was a 9-inning complete game shutout:
The gem extended McDonald's scoreless streak to 20 1/3 innings. He went 2-0 with a 1.54 ERA in his last five starts. During that time McDonald allowed just 21 hits and seven walks and recorded 32 strikeouts in 35 1/3 innings.
His ERA was lowest of the regular starters. His 10 losses was a result of lack of run support during his outings.
That's baseball.
