Catfish End Season With Win

The 2006 season ended on a high note for the Columbus Catfish tonight. They closed the season with a 3-1 win on the road against the Charleston Riverdogs (Yankees).

Starting pitcher Joey Norrito allowed just 1 run on 3 hits in 5 innings, but was not involved in the decision. Reliever Dave Preziosi, who pitched to one batter in the 6th, took the win. Preziosi closed out the 6th inning, coming in after Joe Jones got two outs before allowing a single. Preziosi got credit for the Catfish run in the 7th.

In the 7th, SS Juan Rivera scored on a double play ball after having reached on a single, and moving to third on 2B Travis Denker's single. That run gave the Catfish a 2-1 lead.

The Catfish scored their first run in the 5th, when RF Lucas May doubled, moved to third on 3B Eduardo Perez's ground out, and scored on 1B David Sutherland's sacrifice fly.

In the 9th, the Catfish added another run when Lucas May tripled, then scored when Eduardo Perez reached on an error, making it 3-1 in favor of the Catfish.

Matthew Gomez de Segura came into the game in relief with 2 out in the 8th, got the final out, then set Charleston down in order in the 9th to pick up his 6th save.
