Catfish 4, Greenville 3

Go Catfish! It took ten innings, but the Catfish took a 4-3 victory over the Greenville Bombers (Red Sox) tonight. Leading 3-2 going into the ninth inning, back-to-back hits by Greenville tied the game and forced the extra frame.

The Ryan Express (7th & 8th batters Ryan Russ and Ryan Carter) both had solo shots to first stake the Catfish to a lead in the 2nd, then to retake the lead in the 5th.

Our player, Dan Batz had a hit in the game tonight. Our player from last year, Brandon Carter, though hitless, made a great play running into the outfield, and beat out a fielder's choice in the tenth on the play that allowed Ryan Carter to score the winning run.

Tomorrow, an early afternoon game should be a scorcher. Today's game had a 99° temperature at first pitch, and it started at 7:00 PM. The 2:00 start time should be really warm.

In the top of the ninth, Greenville 3B Chuck Jeroloman tied the game with a single off Hochgesang The Catfish did not score in the ninth, but won it in the tenth. A lead-off single by Russ put a runner at first, but Ryan Carter’s unsuccessful sacrifice forced Russ at second for the first out. After a single to right by C Gabriel Gutierrez, Brandon Carter hit a bouncer to second. On the double play turn, Greenville SS Christian Lara bounced the throw past 1B John Otness, allowing Ryan Carter to score the winning run.
