Baseball Blogging: Extra Disappointment

CatfishExtra innings Friday night meant extra disappointment for the Catfish. The series with the division leading Augusta GreenJackets (Giants) has shown how close the Catfish are to being at the top of the standing instead of the bottom.

The first game on Wednesday was a 1-0 win for Columbus. The Thursday game was a 3-2 loss, with all three of Augusta's runs being unearned. They still count, though.

Friday's game was a 12-inning affair, with the Catfish falling 6-3. All three 12th inning runs by the GreenJackets were unearned.

Again, so close. Again, so much disappointment. The players felt bad afterwards, but should be proud of how much fight they have and how they stayed in the game the whole way. Some of the play in the field impressed some of the Little Leaguers that were in the stands. Perhaps the Catfish picked up some more fans Friday night. If so, the new fans will have lots to cheer about.

While the breaks just aren't happening right now for the Catfish, the breaks will come. And when they do, the rest of the league will know about it.
