Baseball Blogging: Some Bright Spots, But A Loss

CatfishThe Catfish weren't able to make it three in a row tonight. Division leader Charleston RiverDogs (Yankees) bounced back and beat the Catfish 7-3. Not all was bad, as Dan Batz, one of the players the wife and I are "sponsoring," went 4-for-4, scored twice, and made some great plays in the field.

Dan was happy with his play, as he should be, but to him it didn't make up for the loss. He's frustrated that one of his best games didn't come in a win. And tonight wasn't all Dan, by any means. The team played well, collecting 11 hits, but the RiverDogs managed to turn a couple of double plays and make some other timely defensive plays to keep Columbus off the board.

Even with the loss, two Catfish are now batting .300 or higher: Dan now leads the team at .305 while CF Jamie Hoffman is batting .300.

Game three is Wednesday night, and they close out the series Thursday before heading to Augusta.

And if you find yourself in Columbus, Georgia Wednesday night, drop by. I got an extra ticket.
