Neither team managed a lot of hits, but the RiverDogs made the most of theirs. Add three double-plays to the mix that took the Catfish out of scoring opportunities, and a well-played game by Columbus didn't translate to a win.
The other player we sponsor, Lucas May (the runner on first base in the picture), also had a hit and has really improved his play in the field. Luke's mother is in town visiting him, and told me tonight how proud she is of him and how much he's learning. Well, she should be proud of him. He's a fine young man and a heckuva ball player.
Thursday night, Columbus and Charleston finish the series. The RiverDogs, the division leader, have been outplayed by the Catfish, but have outscored the Catfish in two of three games. A win tomorrow night means another series split, and a victory before heading on the road for eight games.
I'm really jazzed about baseball this year! I'm going to go to TONS of games this summer.
ReplyDeleteI've never been to a minor league baseball game, but my company is taking us all to a Rancho Cucamonga Quakes (L.A. Angels farm club) game next month for our company "picnic". I'm really looking forward to it. They apparently put out quite a spread for big groups, with a BBQ and prizes!
I'm taking my whole branch office to an L.A. Dodger's game on June 6th (vs. Detroit). Major League Baseball is still one of your best sports values: $500.00 bucks gets 45 field level seats at Dodger Stadium on a "deal" night. You couldn't get 4 people to most pro basketball games for that price!
GO CATFISH!

ReplyDeleteI hope y'all have a great time. I'm certain you will.
And you're right. MLB vs other major sports is a great deal. And if MLB isn't close by, Minor League Baseball is a great, great alternative.
