Catfish Back Above .500

The Columbus Catfish moved into the winning side of the ledger with a 10-1 win at Kannapolis today. The victory, the Catfish' fourth straight, gives them a 16-15 record, and at least temporarily sole possession of fourth place in the SAL South Division.

Catfish Starter Alberto Bastardo went five innings, and threw his last pitch with the Catfish down 1-0. However, the Catfish punched across 6 runs in a four-hit, three-walk 6th inning, giving Bastardo a comfortable lead and his third win of the season. Jordan Pratt allowed two hits in two inning work, and Jesus Rodriguez closed out the game with two hitless inning pitched.

The Catfish 16-hit attack was led by Ivan De Jesus who was 4-for-6 with an RBI, Jason Mooneyham who was 3-for-3 with two runs scored, and Juan Apodaca who was 2-for-3 with two doubles and 3 RBI.

The Intimidators, the defending SAL champs, have now lost 14 straight home games. The Catfish series with Kannapolis concludes Tuesday night with Columbus in position for their first sweep of an opponent since 2004, when they swept Kannapolis in a series in Columbus that August.
