Catfish Win Series In Savannah

With 4-2 Win Columbus Sneaks Series from Savannah
RHP Cory Wade, bullpen and late error lead to victory

Savannah, GA ... The Columbus Catfish (21-23) took advantage of a two-run error in the ninth inning to beat the Savannah Sand Gnats (16-28) 4-2 Monday. Tied 2-2 with runners on second and third base and two outs in the top of the ninth 3B Russ Mitchell hit a ground ball to SS Michael Martinez whose throwing error allowed both runners to score.

In the top of the sixth inning RF Drew Locke doubled to score Mitchell and tie the game at 1-1. The Catfish tied the game at 2-2 in the eighth inning on a single by DH Jason Mooneyham that chased home LF Brandon Carter.

RHP Cory Wade started for the Catfish and gave up two runs, one earned, in six innings. He allowed just three hits and one walk while striking out six. RHP Matt Gomez de Segura pitched a scoreless seventh inning. RHP Jesus Rodriguez took over in the eighth inning with the score tied at 2-2. In two innings Rodriguez (1-1) did not allow a run on three hits and got the win with the ninth inning Columbus rally.
