Catfish Win Again

The Columbus Catfish won their 10th game in 13 tries tonight ... beating the Charleston Riverdogs 10-6. the win is the Catfish 8th over the Riverdogs this season in the nine games they've met.

The Catfish jumped to an early 7-0 lead in the top of the first on five singles, two walks, and two hit batsmen. Three runs in the ninth capped the Catfish scoring and secured the win after allowing Charleston to inch back to within a run by the end of the sixth inning.

The Catfish attack was led by RF Sergio Pedroza who went 3-for-5 with three RBI and a home run. SS Ivan De Jesus was 2-for-4 with a walk and two runs scored.

Starter Mario Alvarez took the win, allowing 2 earned runs in five innings, walking 5 and striking out one. Ramon Troncoso pitched two scoreless inning to pick up his second save in two appearances.

With the win, the Catfish remain in fourth place behind idle Rome, and a game behind second place Augusta. Tomorrow night, the Catfish and Riverdogs continue their series.
