Catfish Sweep Kannapolis

Go Catfish!Catfish 2B Travis Denker hit his 4th home run of the 4-game series with the Kannapolis Intimidators (White Sox) as the Columbus Catfish swept the visitors from North Carolina, winning 13-2.

Denker went 3-for-5, knocking in 3 runs on his 8th inning homer, and scoring two additional runs. CF Bridger Hunt was also 3-for-5 with a 2-run double in the 6th. 1B David Sutherland was 2-for-3 with 3 RBIs and a double. RF Lucas May was 2-for-4 with a double, his roster-leading 23rd, and 2 runs scored.

Starting pitcher Joe Jones went 7-2/3 innings allowing 3 hits and 2 runs, 1 earned. He had a rough 5th inning, walking the bases loaded then hitting a batter. Apart from that 1 inning, he pitched excellent, stiking out 6 en route to his first win in his 4th start. Joey Norrito pitched the final 1-1/3 inning, allowing a single and a walk.

It's the Catfish 7th win in 8 tries over Kannapolis this season, and their first sweep of the Intimidators since August 2004. It's the second series sweep by Catfish of another team. They swept Charleston in 4 games from May 23-26.

The Catfish head to Rome Saturday for a 4-gameseries with the Braves, before returning home for the final 8 home games of the season.
