Homers Drive Catfish Past Greenville

Three home runs ... two 2-run shots and a solo shot ... gave the Columbus Catfish an 8-inning 5-4 win over the Greenville Drive today, in the first game of a doubleheader.

In the 1st inning, with 2 outs, DH Travis Denker walked. Then RF Lucas May blasted his 12th home run of the season over the left field wall to put the Catfish up, 2-0.

The 5th inning saw Greenville jump to a 4-2 lead that held up till the bottom of the 7th, the last scheduled inning in a SAL doubleheader.

Travis Denker led off the 7th with a single. That was followed by Lucas May's 2nd 2-run homer of the game, also over the left field wall.

In the 8th, LF Adam Godwin ended it with a lead-off home run, his 2nd of the season.

May's 2 homers were his 12th & 13th of the season, tops on the current Catfish roster. His 68 RBIs are also tops of the current roster, as are his numbers for doubles (22), runs scored (59), and slugging percentage (.440). He also leads all 2006 Catfish (including those promoted) players in triples (7).

The daytime double-header was necessary when Friday's game was cancelled because of unplayable conditions, and one of Saturday's games was cancelled due to poor lighting.
