Catfish Swept By Lexington

Another 1-run game ... with the Columbus Catfish being on the short end again ... meant a series sweep loss to the Lexington Legends tonight.

Despite outhitting Lexington 10-7 ... the Catfish only had one extra-base hit ... a double by RF Lucan May with nobody on in the 6th.

Starter James McDonald scattered 5 hits over 7 innings allowing one earned run. McDonald struck out 4. He was down by a 2-0 score after 2 innings, allowing a run in the first on a double and two outfield flies, and an unearned run in the second on a hit batsman, an error, and a double.

The Catfish tied the game in the 8th inning. SS Ivan De Jesus led off with a single and advanced to second on a passed ball. With one out, C Tony Harper singled on a ground ball to right scoring De Jesus, and advancing to second on a throwing error. Harper scored when Lucas May got his 3rd hit of the night, a single to left field.

In the bottom of the 8th, Lexington retook the lead when a double, a walk, and a single loaded the bases with one out. A ground ball to short scored the go-ahead run. The Catfish managed one baserunner on a single by CF Bridger Hunt in the 9th, but were unable to advance him.

The loss was the third by 1-run to Lexington in the series, and the 7th loss of the 8-game road trip.

The Catfish return home Thursday night for an 8-game home stand.
